Humans and nature
The winter of 1947 was one of the coldest in recorded history. In Oslo, the average temperature in February was a bitter -12.9 °C. As a result, the fjord froze over, preventing all shipping. Even large cargo ships and steel tankers became stuck fast in the ice. There was truly a battle between nature and civilisation that winter.
As Earth’s temperatures continue to rise, perhaps the Oslofjord will never freeze again!
Filmavisen
Filmavisen was a weekly newsreel. It was shown as a short film at cinemas from 1941 to 1963, and was produced by Norsk Film AS. In 1976, all of the hundreds of completed newsreels were handed over to NRK.
