You are now standing by one of the oldest military training areas in Norway, Lilleplassen. Lilleplassen was established in 1740 as part of the larger military facility located here at Gardermoen. At the time it served as training area for the cavalry.

Since then Gardermoen developed into a melting pot of serving military personel, travellers, local civilians, hotels, businesses, bakeries, cinemas and residential areas.

The establishment of Oslo Airport in 1997 marked the end of 250 years og military activity at Gardermoen. The historical buildings surrounding you are a collection of buildings from the area moved here in 1997.

Kornmagasinet was built in 1814 following the Napeleonic wars as a storage building for grain. It was originally situated in Jessheim, but was moved to Gardermoen military camp in 1862.

Depot 148 is a a green three-story storage building from the military camp.

Telthuset, the tent house, is a small red storage building for military materials. It is the oldest remaining building from the Gardermoen military area.

Østerrikegata 13 was a recidential building located in the civilian area outside the military camp named Østerrike.

Posthuset, the post office, is a 69 meters long one-story building. Originally built in 1868, the building was probably used as barracks for soldiers. From 1940-45 the building was expanded, and served as a post office until its relocation in 1997. Now it serves as a modern office building.

Furua was the home of the Ludvigsen family, and belonged to the Romani community at Gardermoen. It was built in the late 1800s by Julius Furua. The building was originally located inside the modern airport area, and was moved to Tunet in 1998.

The the historical buildings are administrated by Tunet IS, in cooperation with Ullensaker Municipality, Viken county and MiA – the Museums in Akershus. The aim is to preserve the buildings for the future, whilst ensuring their every-day use.
