Klokkerenga

Klokkerenga stands in its original location and was the starting point for Eidsvoll museum. The houses were occupied until 1950 when the museum was established.

About

The houses stand in a way representative of a small farm in the middle of the 1800s. The interior has been redone, as it would have been in the early 1800s. The Klokkereng family did not live in this old-fashioned way when they left the farm in 1950. By then they had installed electricity, panelled walls, a wooden stove, and had newer glass windows.

Klokkerenga was originally a tennant farmer’s cottage from the farm Østgarn Ås, but was bought and made into a separate farm by one of the sons at the farm during the second half of the 1700s. Right at the end of the 1700s, Ola Halvorsen bought the farm. He worked as the bell ringer (Klokker) at Eidsvoll church, as did two of his sons. It is from their occupations the farm got its name Klokkerenga.
