Inconvenient stains
Visiting the beaches and swimming in the Oslofjord in the 1970s could result in oily stains on your skin and clothing, stains that were hard to remove. What were these stains? Oil? Tar? Where did they come from?
Visible – and invisible – pollution
The 1970s was the decade when the population in general became more aware of the environment, and major resources were employed to clean the fjord. At the time, the pollution was visible: everyone could see that the fjord was filthy. Now, though, it may look clean, but not all pollution is visible or causes stains.
Can you help us to find out what caused these stains? Do you know anyone you can ask? Do you know where you can find out? Could the answer be somewhere else in this exhibition?
